The Goal
Stamps.com Internet Postage, a Windows application, was launched in October 1999 after several months of development. The first generation interface was based on a hub and spoke system that didn't lend itself well to the usage patterns of the users who subscribed to the service.
The Result
Pat was part of the process where many user interfaces were tested for the second release, and produced the final look and feel that exists today in the product.
Stamps.com Internet Postage was redesigned to more closely resemble a web-ish interface, and the redesign allowed for the integration of Internet Explorer and above. This integration is used for revenue opportunities (Office Depot has partnered with Stamps.com to offer a co-branded store), extended help, and enhanced tools that allow users to compare the prices of shipping between UPS, FedEx, and the USPS. Stamps.com plans further enhancement to extend this integration.
